Oklahoma Family Resource Coalition
Statement of Ethical Responsibility
The Oklahoma Family Resource Coalition supports the concept that parents who are confident and competent in their parenting
roles are more likely to rear healthy, productive children. The mission of the Oklahoma Family Resource Coalition is to
support resources within our communities that build on and increase family strengths. They recognize that the intentional
incorporation of family empowerment in all aspects of a program differentiates family resource programs from many other
services for families.
The members of this organization subscribe to a body of ethical statements which are in accordance with the philosophy stated
above. They understand that ethical behavior should not result from edict but from a personal commitment on the part of the
individual as a professional.
To the best of their ability and intent, those certified by the Oklahoma Family Resource Coalition will:
- Hold paramount the welfare of the children and families whom they serve professionally.
- Clearly articulate to their co-workers and to the community at large the philosophy and practices of the Oklahoma
Family Resource Coalition in order to promote quality services to families in Oklahoma.
- Provide services which reflect and build on the cultural values and beliefs of the families they serve.
- Facilitate families’ ability to participate in program decisions, and governance; to be resources for each other; and
to advocate for themselves in the broader community.
- Safeguard the confidentiality of the information concerning families with whom they work and respect their privacy.
- Recognize the boundaries of their competence, education, and training and provide services, use techniques or offer
opinions as professionals that meet recognized standards. When tests or assessments are administered to children, the
guidelines set forth by the author/publisher of the test will be followed.
- Remain alert to and avoid any personal, social, organizational, financial or political situations or pressures which
might lead them to misuse their influence with the families they serve.
- Recognize the possibility that personal problems, needs, and conflicts may interfere with their professional
effectiveness and remediate the conditions in order to better serve the families with whom they work. Continually seek
knowledge which will improve their professional skills and will update and enhance their understanding of the families they
serve.
